Long Time No Blog!

Hello, it has been a while. Two months in fact since I posted anything. Other than working at the day job, I have been putting more time into my new novel. I discovered that I had written myself into a corner and had to work myself around that. I seem to be back on track now and am on about 33,000 words now.

Another thing I have done is just released two other books on Amazon, but let me say straight away these are not new stories. One person who read ‘Trouble Cross’ suggested that the back story and the spoof being written by the main character could be taken out leaving just the main narrative. In his opinion that would flow better. Thinking about this I wondered about two things. Firstly, by taking those bits out I was probably cutting 20,000 words out of the novel. Secondly, what to do with those bits taken out.

I read a lot of James Patterson, who with his team of co-authors is very prolific. He has shorter stories for some of his series, and also standalone stories, in what are called Bookshots. I thought to myself that the back story taken out of Trouble Cross could be something similar. A taster if you like to the main novel. That is what I have done then. I have taken it and created a shorter book ‘T is for …’ and this has just gone on Amazon.

As to the James Bond spoof, well, this has a special place in my heart because I wrote this back in 1988 at a request from a colleague who was pleased with it, so even though unpaid it has been my one and only commission to date. I didn’t want it to just die so I have put that in a very short book too – Doctor, Oh No! – which is also just out on Amazon.

This of course leaves Trouble Cross still available in full as I yet have to create a shortened version by taking these sections out which will require a little rewriting.

I have no idea why the two links above are showing up differently.
